In 2019, Dr Andrew Rochford’s Docta Pty Ltd was presented with the West Java Healthcare Infrastructure Project (WHIP), a 20-year undertaking involving the construction and operation of up to 23 Hospitals and 650+ Clinics in West Java. At this time, Docta partnered with Aspen Medical to leverage the company’s significant global experience and corporate scale.
Recently, Aspen Medical has become a majority owner of the Indonesia Project after a successful sale process with Docta going from 50% to 88% and has subsequently appointed Dr Rochford as Chief Executive Officer of Aspen Medical in Indonesia, which will see him continue in his role leading this transformative project.
Indonesian healthcare is at a historically significant inflection point following COVID-19, with investment in the transformation of healthcare a key priority. A new framework in healthcare law has opened up channels for transformation – providing the platform for greater referral processes, enabling foreign workers to provide clinical services, and better collaboration between the public and private healthcare sectors.
Aspen Medical founder and Executive Chair Glenn Keys AO said, “Given his last eight years of work in Indonesia’s healthcare sector, Dr Rochford is in a unique position to support the delivery of infrastructure in greenfield projects. This includes building a hospital with international design standards, implementing sustainable operations, and the management and delivery of healthcare services.”
Dr Andrew Rochford said, “Aspen Medical is implementing its global expertise in relation to integrating public healthcare with private enterprise (management of public hospitals in Fiji/Design, build and management of clinics across UAE). There are very few companies that can work in lockstep with a sovereign health system to deliver across the breadth of transformation that Aspen Medical is working towards in Indonesia.
“The company is investing a significant number of resources into developing assets in Indonesia, demonstrating a commitment to the country and establishing deep, credible and trusting relationships by supporting and enhancing existing models.”
In addition to Aspen Medical’s investment in hospitals and clinics in West Java, the company will also focus on its other healthcare offerings including workforce solutions, aero-medical retrievals, occupational health, advisory and training.
